This ‘Crobe is Microbe

I apologize for the long patch of dead air. Remember that upswing I was on after the pneumonia/bronchitis/asthma-go-round? There was a downswing right after. My throat started to feel like I’d been swallowing razor blades and my sinuses filled up with putty. I muddled through, sounding bad but feeling okay, for about ten days before the fever started. So yesterday I finished the last of the amoxycillan and I’m looking forward, once again, to repopulating my digestive tract with a fresh herd of friendly critters.

During the feel good/sound bad phase I squeezed in a day of downhill skiing at Okemo with my middle guy, Rory, who it eight years old. He got shut out of the Bill Koch X-C Festival in Stowe because of Emily’s play committment and he takes an awful lot of abuse from his little brother without proffering much in the way of retaliation, so I thought it was high time for some payback. (I’m thinking of it as insurance agains his misbehaving to get my attention. I hope that’s not as naive as it sounds.) I blew off a day of work and Rory a day of school. First we hit the Miss Bellows Falls Diner for the best cheeseburgers in the world. They’re the size of Rory’s head. He chowed until he started to doze off. But he rallied when we got to the mountain. It was a Vermonter day, so we skied a half-day for $23 each.
